Does Net-30 Report to Dun & Bradstreet?

Short answer
Only if the vendor chooses to report. Net-30 just means you have 30 days to pay an invoice. Some vendors send payment history to Dun & Bradstreet and some do not, so confirm before you apply. Even then, D&B generally needs three trade references from at least two suppliers before it can generate a PAYDEX score.
Net-30 is a term, not a credit feature
When a vendor offers Net-30, it is saying you can order now and pay the invoice within 30 days. That is a sales term. Whether the vendor tells a credit bureau how you paid is a separate decision, and plenty of suppliers never do. Opening one of those accounts does nothing for your business credit file, even if you pay perfectly.
That distinction is the most common mistake in vendor stacking, and it is why every account needs a reporting check.
How to check whether a vendor reports
- Ask in writing. Email customer service: "Do you report trade payments to Dun & Bradstreet, and to which other bureaus? How soon after payment?" Keep the reply.
- Read the vendor's own credit application page. Some state their reporting policy there.
- Check your D&B file later. Once you have a D-U-N-S Number, look at which trade references show up.
- Cross-check with our vendor list. We note what each vendor says about reporting and when we last checked, but reporting policies change, so confirm directly.
What D&B needs before it scores you
Dun & Bradstreet recommends at least three trade references from two unique suppliers so it can calculate the score. Only the past two years of payment experiences count. A single vendor, even a good one, will not produce a PAYDEX score on its own. That is why most sellers open several reporting accounts rather than one.
The PAYDEX score runs from 0 to 100, and 80 is the benchmark for paying on time. Our guide on paying early explains how timing moves the number.
How long until it shows up
Reporting schedules differ by vendor, and bureaus process what they receive on their own timeline. Allow a couple of months after your first paid invoice before you decide an account is not working, and do not rely on a specific date.
